Desert Laboratory Anthropology Research Grant

The Desert Laboratory on Tumamoc Hill invites researchers involved in the field (or subfields) of Anthropology to apply for our new Research Grant.  The Research Grant will provide a one time distribution of $2250 to a researcher at any stage of their career to support research, teaching or outreach related to anthropology of current or past people’s in the Sonoran Desert. This award was created in memory of our good friend Dr. Suzanne K. Fish, a giant in the field.

Preference will be given to early career researchers (graduate students or pre-tenure faculty) and those conducting the proposed work on Tumamoc Hill, or providing new understandings of its cultural resources through studies of existing curated collections, oral histories, historical documents, or a combination of such. Proposals involving archaeological fieldwork or analysis of collections must include explanations of how the project will comply with procedures necessary to obtain permits from the Arizona State Museum and the Desert Laboratory.

Applications are due by 5pm AZ time September 15 and applicants will be informed of the status of their application by September 30.
